About Coastal Kitchen
Coastal Kitchen is a resource for home cooks who love seafood and the flavors of the shore. Whether you grew up on the coast or just discovered your love of a perfectly pan-seared fillet, this site is for you.
Our Story
We started Coastal Kitchen because we believed that great seafood cooking shouldn’t be intimidating. Too many home cooks skip fish entirely because they’re unsure about freshness, technique, or what to pair it with. We’re here to change that.
From the briny simplicity of raw oysters to the slow patience of a proper shellfish stock, every recipe and guide on this site is tested, clearly written, and built around ingredients you can actually find.
What We Cover
- Recipes — Weeknight meals, weekend projects, and everything in between. Grilled swordfish, clam chowder, shrimp tacos, ceviche, and more.
- Techniques — The skills that separate good seafood from great seafood. Proper heat, knife work, and knowing when something is done.
- Pantry — The essential ingredients that make coastal cooking possible: fish sauce, smoked paprika, good capers, and the rest.
Our Philosophy
We believe in:
- Simplicity — Great fish rarely needs more than olive oil, salt, and heat.
- Seasonal eating — Eat what’s running. Oysters in winter, soft-shell crabs in late spring, lobster in summer.
- Respecting the ingredient — Don’t overcook it. Don’t over-sauce it. Let the ocean do the work.
